Energy upgrades in Rotterdam

A more comfortable home and lower energy bills

Energy upgrades work best when tackled as a whole: new window frames with good glazing only really pay off once the roof, façade and floor are insulated too, with enough ventilation. As a dedicated construction company in Rotterdam, we bring the entire building shell up to standard, with one team and one point of contact.

From replacing draughty window frames to a complete energy-upgrade package aimed at a better energy label: you receive a clear quote up front with a transparent price breakdown. Where possible, we also keep you informed of available grants such as the ISDE.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about window frames and insulation

HR++ or triple glazing?
For most homes, HR++ glazing offers the best value for money. Triple glazing insulates even better and is worth considering with a well-insulated home or a heat pump, but it calls for heavier frames. We will advise you on this.
Where should I start with insulation?
Roof insulation usually delivers comfort and savings the fastest, followed by façade and floor insulation and good glazing. We look at your home and advise on the most cost-effective order.
Is there a grant for energy upgrades?
For insulation and glazing, the ISDE grant is often available. The schemes change every year; where possible, we keep you informed of the current options.
How much will I save with new window frames and insulation?
That varies from home to home, but the combination of good glazing and an insulated shell reduces your energy use considerably and improves both comfort and the energy label.
Where do you replace window frames and insulate homes?
In Rotterdam and across the whole Randstad. For window frames, the council becomes relevant as soon as the appearance changes or the property is a listed building or sits within a protected townscape; profiling, layout and sometimes the type of glazing then have to meet requirements. For insulation, we also look at the national ISDE grant, which sets minimum requirements per measure for surface area and insulation value.

Knowledge block

Smart energy upgrades: glazing, window frames and insulation

Energy upgrades are worth it, but only when the measures work together. New glazing in a draughty house without ventilation brings damp rather than comfort.

HR++ or triple glazing

HR++ glazing is the standard and almost always cost-effective. Triple glazing insulates even better, but it is heavier and calls for suitable, deep frames. In thin existing frames, triple glazing makes little sense. We advise on what genuinely pays off for your home.

Frame material and draught sealing

Timber, uPVC or aluminium each has its place, depending on appearance, maintenance and budget. Just as important is the draught sealing around the frame, because that is where the savings otherwise leak away. A good connection to the façade prevents cold bridges.

Insulation and ventilation in balance

Cavity, floor and roof insulation are often the fastest to pay for themselves. But a well-sealed house needs ventilation, otherwise humidity rises and mould appears. We keep insulation and ventilation in balance, and look into grants via the ISDE and the energy label with you.

Common mistakes

  • Triple glazing in frames that are too thin, with barely any gain but high costs.
  • Making the home airtight without ventilation, leading to damp and mould.
  • Isolated measures without a plan, with cold bridges and disappointing returns.

If the scaffolding is up anyway and you want to include the roof, take a look at installing a dormer. If the walls inside then need painting, we also take care of the plastering and finishing. Doing the whole home at once, including the façade work? See full home renovation. As for financing, our overview of the grants for home insulation in 2026 sets out which measures fall under the ISDE scheme and what conditions apply.
